Providing books to those experiencing homelessness.

The Footpath Library

The Footpath Library helps people experiencing homelessness engage their mind and feel socially included by providing access to more than 8,000 free books per year, along with reading glasses, donated knitted goods such as scarves and beanies, and plenty of chats over cups of tea.

The Footpath Library is Australia’s only free-giving mobile library for people experiencing homelessness.

At Easter, Sheargold Foundation provided materials to K-2 students at Queenwood girls’ school in Sydney to write letters and cards and create pictures and bags, which were given out to those attending the Footpath Library experiencing homelessness and hardship.

We also fund a part-time van driver, including his vehicle expenses, for the Sydney Mobile Library program, the organisation’s longest-running library, which operates every Tuesday evening in Martin Place thanks to a dedicated team of volunteers
